Money Shift :( Help!

So I did the dreaded top of 3rd to 2nd mis-shiftt and over revved my car for a second or so. I know have an issue with a bit of a rough idle/ very very slight skip. Driving everything appears to be normal no real lose of power that I can tell and no unusual noises. There seems to be a slight bit more ticking than normal from the top end but nothing crazy loud.
I am going to run a compression test this weekend to see if there is any damage to the valves. Could the valve clearances just be out of spec and need shimming? Is it a total loss do I need a new engine? Looking for opinions, anyone have any experience with this, things to look for/test???

You could have done way more damage then you may realize, but odds are you should check it out through the appropriate test you mentioned. Sucks... Not meant to go 8K RPMs :/.

Yeah it really bummed me out. I'll check out the compression and post results as soon as possible.
