There actually is a little bit of truth to this myth, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the TPMS. Our valve stems are made of aluminum so you're going to want to either use an aluminum or plastic cap. If you use another type of metal you run the risk of it corroding to the valve stem which could result in you having to replace the TPMS. There's another thread on here where a guy ran into this exact problem and ruined 2 of his 4 stems trying to get his aftermarket caps off.
