What was the nature of the crash? It's possible your motor/drivetrain may have some damage depending on where the hit was. Is the car still operable enough to verify everything still works?

I'd probably just take the money and buy another nice G or other sports car. Less hassle and you will most likely end up with a more reliable vehicle in the end if you need it as a daily driver rather than Franken-G'ing your DD.

Speaking of Franken,
FrankieG35 totalled his 1992 Nissan Sentra and repaired and rebadged it as a G35. It's still running strong.

The engine is ok, I was able to drive the car a bit but the body repairs are just too costly compared to the value of the car.

What do you think of the G37? It is kind of like an update but still the G you know?

The looks of the G37 are a step down from G35 to me but it's a mechanically superior vehicle across the board albeit for a big price jump.

The looks kill it for me too much to warrant the price.

What would you say about a used fully loaded or almost fully loaded one for $15-17k? The same G35 will run $10-13k. 80k-100k miles. That price difference is a lot smaller.

That's what Im debating on and whether to go w/ an Audi A5 or S5. I think I'll post that thread on here since the G37 section doesnt seem to get much use.

I would steer clear of anything but an almost brand new Audi. They are nice cars when new but the repairs get extremely expensive and will be numerous once it gets to be 5+ years old. Parts just cost a fortune and a lot of routine repair jobs have added complexities that other cars in thevsame price range don't.

You'll have to decide for yourself if you think the price of a G37 for whatever they go for in your area is worth it. For me and what I've seen them sell for in my area, it's not worth it.

Yeah, I forgot about the complexities of some of those European cars. Thank you for the info. Is there any used car that has some luxury and sport in it that you recommend besides an Infiniti?

I looked around at some used Lexus IS's and BMW 135's and 335's. Sporty, luxury, RWD. Never owned either, so I can't speak to ownership costs though.

Audi's are nice. But they are high maintenance. Once they hit 100,000 miles timing belt change which is not cheap! I had a a6.quattro. nice car! Alittle slow. When she hit 100,000 l did the timing belt $1800. 2 months later torque converter goes $2500. Fixed that. I maintained it very well! But things went bad seems like all at once. If you get an audi get the lowest miles you can and a warranty! I had mine 5 yrs no.problems! The a6 uses a belt no chain for timing. The a8 uses a chain.

Damn man, $4300 is 1/4 of the budget I'd have for a new car if I don't want to end up with a car loan.

That's good advice. Are there any other major services you had to get done and how much?

Yes when you find an audi put it on lift. Check for any leaks on the steering check the cv joints and boots. Check motor mounts they arent like the motor mounts on us cars. They have bushings in them like liquid filled and when they go motor mounts break. They are so over engineered!

I've never been a Ford guy, but the new MustBangs are pretty decent.
