It seemed like as time passed, the functionality for the steering controls for the stereo started to slowly fade away. At the beginning of owning my coupe everything worked perfectly. Then little by little they started to not work up until this point where they don't even work at all. Anybody have any advise on what may have gone wrong or how to fix it?
Hey develope1, I experienced a similar problem only in reverse. I lost all control and lighting from my stereo panel but had complete control of the stereo from the steering wheel. In my case, I found some information on Youtube. Search G35 stereo on Youtube and start reading, some times the information you need is contained in the articles even though it is not exactly the same problem as yours. My problem was common and it turned out to be the stereo/CD deck, I replaced it with a used one from eBay and all is good.

Good luck
Thanks man. I'm going to take your advice and see if there's anything helpful on YouTube.
I had the same issue. Over time the contacts on the Clock Spring go bad. I replaced my Clock Spring and everything works perfect and has been perfect for the past 2 years. I purchased one on eBay and it was around $160 at that time.
