Engine tick

So I traded my GSXR 1000 for an 03 Coupe 107k miles on it. Wasn't turned on for about 3 months but took it to a mechanic and they replaced fuel pump and strainer as it didn't start. first thing I noticed when I turned it on is that it has a ticking sound, that to me sounds like a valve. Asked the mechanic and said that its very common for these cars to get a ticking after 100k miles that his wife's car does the same thing. Said to change oil which I did Castrol 10w30 with K&N filter and see if it goes away, if not to put some Lucas in it and i'll be fine. Had a friend mention the same thing that a pal of his has a coupe as well rebuilt the motor and ticking eventually came back. I've never heard of ticking being ok and doesn't feel like it lacks power.

I've also read something about timing belt tensioner could be bad.

can someone chim in make me feel a little better about this situation, see what direction to go in?

Is it cyclic and consistent or does it ever miss a tick?
Is it a CLANK or a light tick?
Could be the fuel damper thing or an injector.

Its a pretty consistent tick, every once in a blue moon I don't hear it but comes right back once I shut off start again, I'm not sure if its cause of the exhaust covering it up but once I get past 40 I don't really hear it as much either. could injectors really be that loud??

Sounds like valve train noise common to an engine with over 100k.
