Why is the coupe heavier than the sedan?

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I've done a quick search here but can't find the answer. The difference I recall is 80 pounds. It seems to me that, other than the slightly bigger tires and wheels, the sedan should weigh more.

Don't they always say that with 2 doors it takes more bracing to stiffen the chassis of a car? Plus the larger back glass.

That makes sense, as you don't have the middle pillar between the doors to stiffen the chassis. From the outside, it does seem kind of odd, though, that most coupes weigh more than their 4-door counterparts.

The coupe is reinforced....to support the weight of the fat head of a coupe driver!!!! j/k...sorry, couldn't resist!

Yep, I think it has to do with the increased stiffness of the coupe. Also, all that extra mojo I guess weighs it down a bit.

I read that the weight difference was more like 175lb becuase that car is wider and engine is a little heavier. The mojo.
