No it won't. Its too much work and the end result is more complicated to work on and has left aftermarket options. The LS' age is irrelevant. Its tried and true, simple to work on and has almost limitless power options: bottom line.

well the vk56 has supercharger and turbo options and regardless of what swap your doing if your not taking care of labor yourself its going to be around 10k plus with this swap i dont need trans or ecm as opposed to ls where i would need both AND harness and STILL need to fabricate....plus what domestic engine can outlast an import engine in durability?? im a gm tech @ cadillac and im not impressed at all .....engine replacements are QUITE common

Again, not trying to discourage. I'd love to see it. If you're a tech then you know what's going on. Most lay persons would be better off with an LS that's all I'm saying.

Thumbs up

I say continue the VK56 swap and blow them all away and you're right domestic engines don't last as long as their counter parts.

You would be better off doing a LSx swap. It will still cost you $15K but....

Then you just need to worry about making the electrics work...

It's actually really easy to do. The vk56 will drop right into your engine bay exactly were the vq35 engine mounts would be located. if you plan on using a manual, you will need the transmission bellhousing from the vk56. If you seriously want to get this done just pm me, or check out my thread project g45 it will give you some insight on what to expect

Irony coming from a forum where engine replacements due to OC issues are common.

I do look at the VQ as a "fragile" engine compared to American V8s.

What block would you expect to survive longer at 500+ HP? A VQ or a LSx?

With regards to the OP's question, if he wants a truely unique swap, then by all means go for it. It would definitely be unique and would keep the car "all nissan" which is attractive in it's own right.

But for a little constructive criticism, if the OP has not procured a motor, he might want to rethink things. VK aftermarket support is sparse, and parts are expensive. There is no pre-manufactured swap kit, and not much history on a swap.

LSx swap. Yeah, lets forget for a second it's a GM motor. It's roots started in the 1960's but it is NOT the same engine. It might rely on OHV tech, but it's a modern designed powerplant that will product 400HP VERY reliably and has aftermarket support that any VQ fan would be jealous of. PLUS, there are plenty of nicely done swap kits, and you can pick up an LSx pretty easily. You can even get different flavor motors with aluminum blocks vs iron blocks.

Biggest kicker is support for this swap as the LSx/T56 swap is VERY popular inthe 350Z community, so if you run into a problem you can easily find an answer to your question.

The VK56 looks like an LSx anyway. I bet most guys would think it was an LS motor.

This guy did a VK56 swap...end result. Spun bearing.
