Sunroof motor starting to slow down, clicking sounds.
Hey All,
My sunroof motor is starting to go out. It has slowed down a little bit and a clicking sound has started to come from the motor area. Ive lubed the tracked and cleaned it out from what I can, helped a little as far as the movement speed but clicking sound still there. It still work fine besides the noise, but im not going to chance it not closing or sealing itself. The tracks looks fine, and seem well lubricated now.
Im wondering what the costs of getting the motor replaced. Ive been told its $1,000+ due to labor or if its something I can do myself. The part itself is less than $100?
Any words of wisdom are appriciated.

I just replaced my sunroof motor about a week ago and it was rather simple. It took me around 30 minutes. The sun visor's,card holder's,pillar's, and the seal around the sunroof/headliner is all I removed. That allowed enough room to slightly pull the headliner down and remove the motor.
I purchased a used one from a wrecked vehicle. There's really no places selling new one's from what I seen. Maybe trying the dealership but it didn't wont to pay a few hundred dollars for something that I rarely use. I'm sure you could get one from someone on here.
Check out this thread. Id make sure the motor is secure before replacing. This thread may help a little also in getting to the motor.
