hi i need help my 2003 g35 sedan car wont start it happened after i picked my son up from school. when i tried to start the car there was no sound or click it just didn't wanna turn over. someone was kind enough to try to give me a jump but that didn't work still, no sound or click. all the lights and radio still comes on.

it has an oil leak and it smells like burnt oil when i used to drive it for a long period of time.
and it also smokes up when I'm driving far. mostly on the freeway.

I just had the alternator replace two months ago and the starter replace a year ago.
is the oil leak whats causing all this problem ?

i have a infant daughter and a 5 year old son that rides in this car
any help would be great! Thanks in advance!!

 

It sounds like a bad connection between the battery and the starter, when u turn the key all the way, do the lights dim at all in the interior or the headlights, if not .. theres no power going to the starter.

sounds like an easy fix, cause also be a relay .. but im thinking number 1 first

 

Hello sok1989, There are countless possibilities to your problem, gravesg mentioned a couple. You could have a bad battery, corroded or loose battery terminals. Loosen the battery terminals clean them and reinstall the terminals. Try starting again, if nothing try jumping again, if it starts take it to a local parts store almost all will check your battery and alternator for free.

The burnt oil smell is common with these engines because the valve cover seals harden and stop sealing, which causes oil to drip on the exhaust manifold giving off the smell. It should not be the cause of your engine not starting. You do however need to be aware that you need to monitor your oil level regularly and add oil regularly, these engine don't do well with low oil levels, serious costly damage could occur if you run the car with low oil.
