oil filters

The best advice I can say is to wait through the break-in period to switch to synthetic. Some say 3000, some say 10K, some even say 20K. Thats why I'm going over at 15 and hope for the best!

Do I need the Mobil 1 filter though or is the OEM fine?
OEM filter is no bueno
I would recommend a bigger filter, especially for synthetic oil assuming the filter will be used longer when compared to using non-synthetic oil.

Going with 100% synthetic fluids in your G35 will only make it run better and last longer! Synthetic fluids run cleaner and cooler, that can't possibly be a negative thing. I use AMSOIL 10W/30 and K&N filters in my crankcase and AMSOIL everywhere else too. The dreaded sludge is non-existent thru quality synthetics and recommended replacement intervals!

I've been using Castrol Syntec GTX 5W-30 for a while.
I've had no problem with this full synthetic oil and I just bring it in with my filter to the dealer when I get my oil change.
