Car totaled?

Involved in a chain accident on the highway unfortunately.

No frame damage but both airbags deployed going 25mph.
Coolant and antifreeze leaked.
Car starts up just fine though,
Current 70,350 miles on the car. 2004 g coupe

New hood new fenders new bumper new headlights airbags etc. This will be close to total because airbag deployed. Who pays for this when accidents like this happen?

Insurance pays for it.

Oh sorry, would be me since I was last in the accident.

Makes me sick to see our rides tore up like this! ^ Who knows what insurance company's will do? In this case they may flip a coin to decide if to total or not. You may have to fix it yourself if they total it, if you want to keep your coupe! Do you still have the OE hood and bumper cover?

I can speak from experience here. I bought a "Salvage" G35 that had a Salvage Title, without repairs completed in Ohio. Small hit in the front set the airbags off. Headlights were salvageable (tabs broken), hood not touched, grille reusable (I painted it to freshen it).
Had to buy/install

- Bumper cover, foam, reinforcement
- Dash, airbags (driver/passenger)
-Seatbelts rebuilt
- AIrbag module reprogrammed
- I went ahead and had the clockspring rebuilt

- Total removal of dash and rear interior is required

I went ahead and painted hood to refreshen it with the bumper cover

Did your glass break? - Many cars do by design when the bags are fired. Mine was intact.

In the end, the hours to repair along with the parts (you have a bunch more than mine) will easily total.

Regarding buying it back - it totally depends on:
1. Your insurance company
2. How your insurance company handles your title (and this may boil down to your insurance office believe it or not)
2. What state you are in

Part of the issue is if they turn your title into a salvage certificate. IF so then you have to get the vehicle inspected for any stolen parts (keep all your receipts). This in itself is a real PIA unless you know someone...

IF you are in the Maryland area, let me know. I may be interested in it...
