Question about body work

Just bought an 04 coupe silver. It has a few minor scuffs and dings. One dent is on the door about the size of a quarter and some some scuffs which show up black on the car . Nothing major unless your up close to it but I was wondering if a body shop could / would even do that. Can I just get those scuffs touched up and painted and what would it cost me ? I'm a noob with this stuff please help lol

Welcome to Driver and congrats on your G. Hard to answer the question without pix. If your dents don't need painted, paintless dent repair is pretty reasonable. As far as the scuffs go, hey could potentially be buffed out. Or you could have the panel repainted. Roughly between 200-500 depending on he damag & the shop. He place I go to locally is ~500 per panel for repair/re spray with DuPont paint.

Thanks! 85,000 miles paid 10gs for it . Good deal or what? And what do you mean by panels? Like pieces of the car ? A door is a panel, the bumper is a panel etc ? And the scuffs are small, maybe like the size of a quarter but their black and it looks bad on silver so it's kind of annoying.

Sounds like a good deal. Yes panel would be bumper, hood door etc. some places will do a smaller section but normally paint blends better when you do the whole panel. You could try some rubbing compound on your scratches or something like scratch x by meguiars to see if that will get rid of it. The black marks could be scuffs on the surface of your paint that can be removed with a little compound and elbow grease.

Good luck & post some pix of your G

I'm almost never wong! Who goes to the body shop for dings and scratches?
Welcome to Driver Derek, congratulations for finding a coupe you like! That ding can be handled by company's that do paintles dent removal, they go by names like Mr. Dent. Check your Yellow Pages for locations. Most scratches can be removed by a professional using a high speed buffer/pads/cutting polish, again check the Yellow Pages under Auto Detail. Cost should be under $200 to remove dent and polish out those scratches...a lot less than the body shop!

Paintless dent repair is a skill/talent service but anybody can hop on Amazon and buy a set of spoons and put out a sign.

So do yourself a favor and do your research on vendors using Yelp and Google. For Google search for "paintless dent repair near MYZIP" and you'll get a map with the different vendors having reviews. You can also look to join a local car club and ask them.

Enjoy your G,

Jim
