Need to change flex tubes/y pipe, need advice.

Hey guys I own a G35 2006 and since this is like the biggest G35 community I have more chances of getting good advice here. So, I noticed that my exhaust was making a weird sound and found out it was the flex tubes, now here's the thing, I went around shopping and I have a few choices, here they are:

1- Have a garage cut my current oem flex tubes and install/weld some universal flex tubes for about 280$ CAD

2- Have a garage change my whole y-pipe for a new y-pipe for about 400$ CAD (Unsure if OEM or not, forgot to ask.)

3- Buy an aftermarket y pipe myself (it would be walker y pipe or megan racing y pipe which are around 200$ CAD) and have the garage install it, I don't know the cost for the installation but the pipes are around the same cost as having my flex tubes cut and weld back ~200$CAD shipped to my door

4- Buy an used OEM y pipe from z1motorsports for around 180$ shipped to my door. I was opting for this but they don't specify the exact condition of the pipe, all they say it's good and used.

I seriously don't know what to do? I was opting towards the megan vs walker aftermarket y pipe but then I'm afraid of the sound, people said that it ****s up the exhaust sound, is it true?

Any input would be great, thank you very much.

I would go with #3 for sure. Everything else seems like a rip.

A lot of people here would just recommend to get the HR Y pipe. It will only make the sound better and you can pick it up used for cheap versus doing something like a weld.

Thanks for your answer. I was definlty thinking of going with #3 as well however, I'm afraid it will **** up the exhaust sound since most afterarket y pipes are 3' and the OEM is 2.5', as for the HR Y pipe wouldn't I need to make extra adjustements so it fits my current exhaust setup?

If anyone has stock exhaust and aftermarket y pipes specially walker y-pipe or megan racing y-pipe please I need your feedback as if sound has changed badly or anything.

I had the same problem as you last year and have an 06 Coupe.

It can end up costing you a little more then you anticipate. I bought an V2 Megan Racing Y-Pipe and installed it myself. I like the way it sounds and haven't noticed any problems since I installed it.

I'd see how rusted your bolts and flanges are. I had to cut my mid-pipe off and the flange down at the muffler was rotted to hell. I picked up a used mid-pipe from someone local for 50 bucks. Then had Meineke weld the muffler to the mid-pipe and have been happy ever since. I don't plan on selling or changing my exhaust so I don't mind the muffler being welded to the mid-pipe.

I think I ended up paying about 350-400 after everything was done. The Y-Pipe was about 200 I think and the rest was for welding and the used pipe.

Thanks for your input, coffeysm. I'm definitly going with #3 now, I haven't checked how rusted my bolts are, I'm hoping not too much. So I can have walker y-pipe + gaskets for 202CAD or Megan racing y-pipe with gaskets for 242CAD + customs. Megan y-pipe seems to be STAINLESS steel and walker is simple steel, so there's my decision, is it worth to pay around 80$ for a stainless y-pipe or just go with walkers simple steel y-pipe? Asking this since winters here in Montreal are sometimes harsh and I'm afraid that steel will rust easily, input?

I live in PA and winter's here can be brutal as well. I haven't looked under my car to see how the pipe has held up. But, I'd go with the Megan pipe, I've read of some people not too happy with Walker Y/Mid-pipes.
