Need brake advice
 

Alright so I searched and searched on the forum for rotors and pads advice/help but I could not find what comes to my needs. So that's why I'm making a whole new thread.

I wanted to know what are the best rotors and pads. As well as the best combo.
I aiming for Stoptech slotted rotors with Hawk hps pads but ppl are saying that they are not so well performed during rain and I live in South Florida. All I need is advice and some good combos as well because I'm tired of that screeching sound on my current oem setup. Time to change.

if you are not taking the car the to the track, stay with OEM pads and a quality aftermarket rotor. Adams Rotors who use to sponsor this site, puts out a quality product with great customer service.

I was thinking about that but I'm getting told not to use my oem pads because the 03-04 pads are not good at all.

Get some good after market rotors and OEM style "ceramic" pads. That's what I have used for the last 6 years and they give me the best over all performance. They don't have the best bite, but they don't dust and they don't DISAPPEAR when it's cold and wet like Hawk HPS. I tried EBC "Green Stuff", great bite, but they eat rotors like candy. I tried drilled rotors from StopTech and they cracked. Quickly. I went back to OEM style rotors and pads and I am very happy.

I haven't done rotors yet but I'd go Centric based on what I've read on here. Project MU B-Force pads are phenomenal for the street. Low dust, no noise, and last a long time.

I'll second. Been running centric premium blank rotors for years in all four seasons, rain, snow, etc. with Project Mu NS or B-Force pads. Long lasting pads that BITE.

What year is your car because my recommendation will be different depending on 03-04 or 05+

I have the same questions and I have an '05. I think I'm going with Akebono pads from partsgeek but the Centric has so many varieties. Noted above is Centric premium blank, but does that mean 'standard'? There's also 'premium disc-preferred' or simply a 'premium' (part #18387-05277406).

I went with Stoptech Pads on R1 Premium slotted rotors aka centric premium slotted blanks. This is the most dust I have seen out of any pads. I have used ebc, oem, akebono, posiquiet and other random pads on vehicles when I bought them. The grab and respond extremely well to repeated braking. They make my wheels look graphite ...lol but they work. I did stainless lines along with stoptech fluid flush. All that really makes a big difference and I have a lot of confidence in the vehicle.

From your thread you bought the EBC from autobarn? I'm pricing out a rear slotted rotor there at $100+. Is that the best price you found?


I guess you get what you pay for? The Centric are only ~ $50/ea at partsgeek.

I don't remember what I paid for them, but it was more than $50 each.
Plus it was quite some time ago, prices might have gone up.
I know that when I was searching for rotors, they were cheaper than stoptech.

IMO rotors and pads is something you don't cheap out on unless you selling your car in a week. Than you can install OEM crap. I'm very satisfied with my choice of rotors. Considering the use I put them through, they hold up very well.
For now this will be my rotor and pad of choice.

Considering I'm specifically avoiding OEM crap, your insight is greatly appreciated. I certainly don't want to skimp out, but of course want the most bang for my buck. Parts are now on order. Thanks
