8500 X50. Haven't tried the others, but it works great. Still, even the best detector is no replacement for eyes and mirrors - I see a lot of cops hiding out and watching, but not using radar.

Both

I'm on my second V1 as the first got stolen. Had it for 3-4 years. Bought the car and it came with the 8500 with the laser switcher system making it a 800 dollar buy. V1 is awesome, put it in my mums car as she prefers the direction. I prefer the V1 but the passport is definetely better with the laser switcher. It is nearly double the price as the switcher is 500dollars but one day in court, or a couple will justify the costs of either.

to turn on pop...hold the two buttons together and it will go to a menu. browse through until you find pop..and turn it on. my bad for not being too detailed. but that's off the top of my head.

Escort Passport all the way! Do some research on the net and see what you can find, but there's a couple places out there (Motortrend included) that have done tests of all the detectors. Escort and Valentine always end neck and neck as the tops detectors. Last test I saw, Escort beat Valentine by one point, something like 85 to 84.

Two nice things about the Escort, if they come out with some new, fantastic, model you can send your old one in with $50 and they'll give you the new one. Also, if you ever decide you want laser protection, you can hook up the Escort ZR-3 Laser Shifter to your Passport detector.
