i have an escort 8500 x50 - got it for $50 off. it's saved my **** several times! great detector with great options!

however, if money was not a concern, I would've gone with the Valentine V1 hands down. if the escort only had arrows...

BEL vector 985

Good, cheap, and its quality

The only thing it needs in the direction of the signal....

Escort 8500 > V1. Sure it's nice to have arrows to know where it's coming from but I mean you have to slow down anyway so why spend the extra money. I have tried both and personally I prefer the 8500.

Bel RX65, works greats. Or get the Escort both of these are almost exactly the same.

Bel RX65 Pro - Def work great & detects POP Radar which the V1 doesn't, at least not yet but I am sure they will soon! For $100 less than the V1, it works like a charm

i've heard of a lot of false's with the V1, meanwhile hardly any with my Escort. Both have their advantages (arrows to tell you where its coming from on the V1) and disadvantages.

V1 - getting ready to send it in for the upgrade for pop detection. I've had it for 4.5 years and I can't live without the arrows now.

Honest question: Are upgrades available for other detectors?

according to the www.escortradar.com, the "Passport 8500 X50's on-board computer can be reprogrammed to detect new radar and laser threats, making it a solid investment."

but i havent heard of anyone getting theirs updated. my guess is the x50 hasnt been out long enough for any necessary updates to come up.
