Trade my 03' Coup for 05' Boxster?

What do you guys think?

It's been a couple of years now since I had my coup and I love it as a hard top, but miss having a convertible.

I had a Boxster in the past, but the new one is really tempting. I know it's two different cars, but......................

How many of you would do it?

You forgot to mention how much you'd be paying over the top to get the '05.

As long as it's the S, then I say do it.

The new styling is great, and it's a blast to drive

This will be for the base model not the "S". The power and performance of the 05' base model is very similar to the previous "S" that I had.

Equipped the way I wanted it with Tip, Nav and all the goodies, it will be about 54k. An equivalent "S" model would be 10k more for less than a second 0-60 times. I would take about a 3k loss on my G.

I would have a lot more fun with a Corvette C6 convertible, while eating Boxsters for lunch all day long. The Boxster is nice, but its no where near worth $54k. For $34k, I would consider one. But for $54k, I think they're smoking crack.

Boxters have nice handaling, but besides that, they are crazy over priced. Less horse power, smaller cars. Affordable and porsche shouldn't go in the same sentence. If you get a new car. Get a new coupe, mod it a bit. Or get the fast z convertable

I'd probably get an m3 before I got a boxter, but its all a matter of personal preference. I think the boxter is over priced for what you actually get.

Test drive

If you want a convertible you need to look at all your options. All mercedes roadsters are very comfortable and look amazing. C6's have awsome power. M3's have power, handling, and that BMW factor. The boxter is only worthwile if you get the S. If your worried about price, the 350z is tuff to beat. If I were you, I would have a ball test driving all these cars and pick the best one for you.

i'd also recommend a convertible M3, or a C6 vette. better bang for the buck IMO.

Well no offense, but I'm not a fan of American cars. Just not my style. Also, IMO anything not American is overpriced for the performance you get, so bang-for-the-buck is not the main factor for me.

I also want a auto tranny, so the M3 is out. Drove the following cars so far:

Mercedes SLK350 - Felt small and unresponsive.
Lexus SC430 - Nice ride, but to plush like my couch at home.
350ZR - Felt cheap, especially the top + not too crazy about the looks.

Tip
In a Porsche?
You must have some serious commuter traffic.

fair enough, you're definitely entitled to your own opinion. however, I'm 95% sure the M3 convertible is available with auto tranny. i would at least take a look, as these cars are a RIOT to drive!
