The Search Has Ended

So, after looking and looking. I think I stumbled across a great find.

https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/5422313898.html

It's a 6 hour drive from me though, haha. Regardless, it has 149k miles(isn't that bad), no mechanical issues, not modded at all, and only some minor cosmetic damage.

So I have two questions for you guys/girls.

1) Anything I should look to inspect on the car that is easily overlooked before purchase?
2) My budget was initially around $10,000ish. So if all goes well and I grab this steal, I'll be willing to invest $2,500 into performance upgrades, and the rest will go to repairing cosmetic damage and . What're some great long term investments performance wise? I love the MD Tdx, but with that price tag its a killer. I'm settling for the Invidia Gemeni exhaust, found one for $900 on amazon.

He already posted in the ad that you'll have to be wary of old suspension parts like bushings and such. Those will probably all need to be replaced.

Check for excessive road noise (sounds like a whomp, whomp when accelerating) noise to see if the wheel bearings are allright.

Best thing to check for since its a manual is the condition of the manual transmission. You'll want to row it through all the gears in normal driving to check each gear is good.

Wouldn't call it a "great" find...I doubt the rarity of that mileage in a 6MT.
Seeing that you'll be the 7th owner...I feel like it has been altered along the way including being lowered or those 18s got bigger...one of the two.
Just know what you're getting yourself into. If you plan on doing work yourself (good luck pressing bushings) you could save some money on the back end.

I wouldn't get it. clearcoat sucks. You have to sand the entire car down, repaint it, then re-clear it. you're about $2K in for a good paintjob depending on your area. also with those miles you have to worry about if the piston rings are ****ed yet. they like to go out at around 120K and then you start burning oil. Plus if you are driving 6 hours, have a few options, not just 1. I drove 6 hours one-way for mine, and looked at 6. this was my last choice (because it's white) but it was the best out of all 6.

Hello all, thanks for all the replies. You guys are great. I did overlook the fact about him trading it for a S2K while wanting to sell it for a truck. I inquired about it that. Well it seems that it wasn't worded properly. He has a S2K which he wants to get rid of.

I have a buddy in Jacksonville who said I can run the car by him to check it out for any sketchy business. I know this isn't a "Great" find, but if everything checks out I'll be more than happy. Also the carfax checks out with the reported mileage, doesn't mention any possible alterations.

Edit: I will be looking at a few others if I decide to travel down there.

Still doesn't make sense.

he has both a S2k and G35 that he wants to get rid of? Which one does he really want to get rid of?

Previous owner was an else lady.... right... because those elderly ladies all drive MT sport coupes with no seat height adjustment.

This whole ad sounds really suspicious. Don't ignore your instincts when considering a used car.
