G35 for Postmates Driving
Hello there. I recently started driving for Postmates, and I'm curious if anyone has any experience with using a g35 for this job? Aside from poor gas and normal wear and tear, what kind of issues can occur if the car is repeatedly turning off and on all day? FYI my car has 214000 miles. Owned it for 10 years. Maintained it like a baby. Thanks!

It depends on your situation. I was doing it for 8 months because I had to. I didn't have any other source of income, so I was working 6 days a week 12 hour days to make enough to pay bills and eat. It did not help that I was driving with a G35, that ate gas like the cookie monster. So for me, it was worth it because it got me through dark times. But if I had another way to make income at the time, it would NOT have been worth it.
If you're looking to just do it part time and make extra money on the side, then I think it's completely fine. There are strategic ways to make good money, if you know your market and know what the high end restaurants are, etc.

I did some Lyft driving for some side cash a couple years back. It was not worth it to me, half because you had to put in serious time to many any real money, and half because driving strangers around all slow and polite-like took the fun out of driving a 6mt G, plus I'm not a people person, so I hated 90% of the customers. Also, driving a lowered G around Seattle (or any metro area), going in and out of weird driveways and alleyways = scrape city.
I supposed PostMakes might be a bit better, since you're not driving strangers around, but next time I'm looking for an extra source of income, I'll learn how to needlepoint Pokemon potholders and sell them on etsy before looking back into uber/lyft/postmates.

I started this thread back in 2016; since then I have quit Postmates and started 2 business. I became a dog walker and photographer. Living in Los Angeles and pursuing acting, I needed something that is flexible with schedule. Postmates gave me that flexibility at the time, but I'm glad I have my two businesses to carry me through now. But, I do owe it to Postmates in keeping me afloat so that I can remain in L.A.
