Plate

No front plate for me. I have never owned a car that a front plate was installed on. I will gladly pay the fine if I am ever stoped.

Never had a front plate on any of my cars. Been pulled over without a front plate and never got a ticket for the plate at least. The one time I did get a ticket for no front plate was when my rear plate was off for pics on my old vw corrado and forgot to put it back on. So I got a ticket for the front after explained that I usually run a rear but forgot to put it back on. Slapped the plate on with duck tape <--- seriously =) got it signed off and payed then ripped it right off after I left the station!

I've always driven with no front plate. It's just plain ugly. I've been ticketed once for it, but at that point the officer was trying to tack on everything he could find. Not that he didn't have enough since I had run a red light and had a suspended license. For the most part, they've left me alone. I hear Los Angeles has been trying to crackdown. They really should have better things to do, but with the lack of funding for the LAPD, I'd imagine it might be becasue they want to ensure the camera tickets are able to get your face and the plate# in the same picture to have better evidence. I dunno....just trying to find a reason why they think the front plate is such a big issue. Considering so many states don't even issure front plates, it makes no sense to me that it is even required. What purpose does it honestly serve? At least with reasonable expectations.

I use no front plate, and half the reason I do it, is because it is illegal. Aside from being ugly, if you ever get pulled for a moving violation, infractions such as that tend to help, at least in my personal experience. Cause they will generally look the car over and write me up for those things, rather than the speeding or whatever. Also same reason I don't put my county tax sticker in my window.

The cop is happy because he got to write a ticket and bring in revenue, and you drive away happy cause you didn't get any points on your license. Win-win really.

I don't have the front plate either, but I keep it inside the car. If I get pulled over for not having it, I just tell the officer that the mount broke off and that the dealer has a new one on order for me.

I have Cali plates in Illinois. I never get pulled over for not having a front plate, because most cops out here don't know the rules for Cali.

I have a front plate, because the dealer installed the bracket w/ two drilled holes in the bumper. I didn't have the option to say no. I've been stopped several times before with my other cars (Calif.).

Move to NM no front plate required. It's one few reasons to live here. The front plate was the first thing to go on my last car when we moved here from MA.

No plate required for us Canucks where I live. Government saw no use for them and it was a cost cutting measure about 15 years ago.

Me...I have my front plate on. I NJ that's one of the things the coppers look for. With tinted windows, I want the least excuse for being pulled over.

There is someone that made a license frame using binder clips and a couple screws, w/out drilling into your bumper. you can rig that up, show the cop that you have a plate, then take it off again

Hey RRBOY, what was the fine? Just curious. There is no way I am putting that plate on the front of my sedan. It looks great riding around in my trunk.
