Its a money maker for the city of chicago. I got a ticket for no front plate while it was parked on the street ($25). They had a rather large lady cop just driving down the side streets looking for cars without city stickers or front plates. This lady was so lazy that should would just roll up to your car and stick the ticket to your side window. I guess it would be too hard for her to get out of the squad car.

Then when the Faternal Oder of Plice call looking for donations, I just tell them the donation I had set aside for them was collect by the city in a form of a stupid ticket.

If they really where serious about having front plates on, then they would issue fixit tickets and force you to show that you put it on.

This is really ironic. I was reading this post yesterday and said to myself this really blows. Woulld you know that I left my car on the street for a few hours to find a $50.00 ticket for you know what. Chicago sucks when it comes to tickets. I blame the person and all the people that started and reponded to this post. If the post was "when I going to my car I found the winning lottery ticket" I would be rich. Oh well maybe next time.

3 years ago I put license plate cover on my car. Two days later a $75 ticket and I didn't even have it off, just a cover. New York is no fun people. Tickets are steep here, up to $110 for a parking ticket.
If I take off my front plate guarantee I'll get a ticket once a week you guys are lucky you can get away with it. Even with a $10 ticket I would keep it off, but $75 is too much for me.

I also live in NY and everyone here has 2 license plates, both front and back. Here's a funny story. When I was 18 I took a driver's ed class at a private high school. I was driving the driver's ed car on a New York State parkway (State troopers' jurisdiction.. not the county cops) when I saw a trooper pass by on my left lane. After he passed my car, he looked back, turned on his lights and pulled me over. Said he's giving ME a ticket for not having a front license plate.. Is that ridiculous or what? My teacher told me the school's gonna pay for it, but gee-wiz, a year later I get a summons for not paying that ticket.

I also got pulled over 2 weeks ago for tinted windows. I was driving on northern blvd in Queens, NY, passing by a police precinct. While I was passing by, a cop car just came rolling out of the precinct driving the opposite direction.. I had a bad feeling so I lowered my driver side window but as soon as he passed me, he made a U-turn and pulled me over. Funny thing is, I'm Asian and in my 20's.. the cop who was driving was Asian and in his 20's as well.. after 35 minutes of waiting, they gave me two tickets.. 1 for the driver side window and 1 for the rear. I guess the cop felt sympathetic because he told me to plead not guilty and bring in a receipt saying I took off the tints.

It's a bitch and a half to live in New York. Cost of living is high, city roads have crazy potholes, and you gotta have a front license plate.
