New Key cut, only locks door???

I went to home depot and had a key made for my 07 g35 w/ smart key, the guy making it seemed a little off and i needed to watch what he was doing on the key maker screen because he kept saying the system couldn't read the key. I made sure he did it as a non transponder key and it finally let him cut one on a standard nissan blank. The key fits in my driver door lock but only turns in the locking direction (and does lock the doors)? wtf is going on? any ideas?

Obviously a bad cut. Get a real Nissan/Infinity blank and have it cut by a locksmith.

Is there something different about our keys that they can't be done in the automated cutting machines that are everywhere? Do i need a key blank with a chip in it just to unlock the driver door?
