BEWARE!!!...What would G-owners do if/when....

The 3.5 engine in the IS350 is a V6. That's why they can pull off 315 hp. Lexus has dropped the inline for some time now starting with the ES330.
Also, it will take more than 315 hp and rwd to take on BMW. Lexus will have to tune their suspension and give up some comfort so the car can handle. Lexus' cars have always been "soft", but people like soft. I've heard the current IS handles really well, so at least they have foundation to work from. If they keep the weight down and the price down, and with their reliability and service record, they'll have a winner.

[QUOTE=ChazM]What is the question?? you begin the thread title with "BEWARE", as if infiniti is going to be screwed.
I am actually just curious to find out how many G'ers are going to trade in their already great cars for something else within that category. I just feel it would be interesting to see how many depart for the other Japanese brand. Some might remember on this forum that other G-owners traded their coupes for cars such as the STi...M3...Evo and such. Its all a matter of preference.
BTW....Supra all the way....300ZX is very nice(a great legend at that) but the Supra is much rarer (at least here on the northeast from what I have seen) and are absolutely gorgeous. Just look at the back of that thing.
Just my $0.02!

Hmm, def worth a test drive
But if it was out right now, I wouldn't trade my G for it. The exterior styling is just too plain for me...
Doesn't it look like a Scion tC??

Something else that this thing has already going for it...Remember, most buyers of Toyota/Lexus products have high expectations in reliability and quality and such, and Lexus has certainly proven that in the J.D. Power & Associates awards. So yeah, this should certainly be a hot seller. I do feel that the IS250 would sell more than the IS350 (just as BMW sells more 325i's than 330i's)...one is more of a volume seller than the other.
My point is the 350 would likely be in the high upper 30s maybe 40k.
The folks at AutoSpys.com have an idea of what the next IS300 will look like.

Competition is great. It will make Nissan do a better job. I love my car but hate it's quirks and rattles.
I was at the dealer yesterday getting the ABS/SLIP/VDC OFF lights reset (go figure) and asked if they had any new M's. The guy pointed to the back lot.
There I was, staring at a row of Q45's and G35 sedans. I scanned and scanned the line until I spotted the 2 M's. Sitting side by side, between the Q's and G's.
How underwhelming it was. As I went closer my eyes narrowed as I tried to find something to like about the M. All I could see was the design flaws of the orignal G sedan, and none of the Ommmph that the print ads showed for this car. I can see why they had them in the back. Thay have the best photographers, don't they?
I imagine it drives real swell. But now I don't have to worry about going even farther over my budget. I really don't want one.
Gonna take a look at the new Lexus's though!

Not sure if I would trade. But I wouldn't rule it out if it were near the same price range . I assume, being a Toyota/Lex that it would be reliable and durable with high quality. Probrably wouldn't have all the rattles that we endured on the G. But it is going to take a heck of a lot of car for the mney to beat out the G. Now that pic up above looks hot.

Those pics look good...but not as good as the ones from Car magazine...personally I would much have that one than the one from Autospies....
We'll just have to wait until Tuesday (March 1st 2005) to find out what the real deal is...Cant wait!!
