The IS350 is very promising...However, it MUST accomplish one thing for it to be groundbreakingly successful. It MUST not be a heavy pig like many of the newer high tech cars coming out now. Just look at the Acural RL: 300 HP, AWD, nice interior with high tech amenities but 4000lbs! The '05 G35 6MT already weighs too much at 3512 lbs. If the IS 350 weighs more than 3500 lbs it will not be able to distinguish itself performancewise. Sure it may have ~300 hp but so does the G35. Sure it may have high tech gadgets but so does the Acura TL. I'm afraid it will probably tip the scales at 3550 lbs or more for a RWD version and add 150 lbs more for the AWD version. If that is true then it would just be just like a rear wheel drive version of the Acura TL with lots of high tech gadgets and a better interior than the G35. That will not be enough to sway current owners of the G35 and TL to trade in their cars to the IS350. It may persuade new entry luxury sporty buyers to Lexus though. I love the look of the new IS350 but it needs to weigh under 3400 lbs to work for my $40k+. In the meantime, I'll stick to my portly '05 G35 6MT for now.
