Replaced OEM Air Filter

Bluestreak, when I replaced the filter and drove around, I felt like I was getting better throttle response but I figured it was just in my head.
Birdhouse, you can get a K&N air filter from Grubbs Infiniti (Http://www.grubbs.com/). You can also get it from Http://www.kandn.com/ but I think they want like $70 for it, lol.
madchef, the replacement OEM air filter was oiled. I thought all air filters are supposed to be oiled to catch and absorb the dirt better.

I want to change my own air filter when the time comes. It's a little over 3,500 miles now.

I'm not sure what I missed, but I didn't think changing the filter was not that quick. I unlatched all the clips and unscrewed it from the frame, and I still couldn't get the filter out, so I had to unbolt the whole stupid intake assembly.. I'm I missing something?

I unlatched the clips and bolt. It is very tough, but can be done. After about 20 minutes I was able to pry out the old filter and get the new one in. Not a good design, but it can be done. The big problem is the lower half of the box does not have much room. You have to make sure you use all the space you can down low. Otherwise, the bottom half of the filter will always get stuck. The new filter went in easy becuase you are feeding the filter in at the largest opening. As the new filter works it way down with your hand, you need to use the available room for the lower part of the box. I fed the the new filter with my hand through the air box opening and used the other hand to keep the box spread apart.

Hi all!
I followed Cato's Stock ENGINE Air Filter Replacement DIY instructions found here and it took me <5 mins.
The only suggestion I would add to the DIY is to pickup any loose debris in the air box.
I took her for a drive immediately after the air filter install and felt a definitely felt a difference in throttle response (I only had 12K miles on the old filter). For the cost of the filter (~$8), I think it's the best
bang
for the buck.
Thanks Cato for the excellent write-up!

I just can't wait for the shipping. I am sure you can find it cheaper online. installing took 5 min. very easy. all you need it's 2 hands
Thats it
I got a K&N today at Advance for $45, I am a retard when it comes to fixing things and it only took me 15 minutes. About two minutes once I realized there was four clips instead of just the top two...
K&N
I've been trying to sell my K&N drop in air filter I had left over from my Maxima for over a month now, and I just realized that 3.5VQ uses the same filter. hahaa I'll be installing that tonite. With all this A/C driving I see a tremendous loss of power comparing it with A/C off, so hopefully that helps a bit.
I ordered up my XM radio and antenna splitter from Grubbs prior to even picking up my G last Monday, also ordered the K&N Drop in and a couple other things.
The first thing I did when I got it home from the dealer was to 1. admire how beautiful it is. 2. Call my wife out to see how beautiful it is. 3. Install the K&N filter.
Piece of cake! The only reason I'd do the Z tube or POP charger is for the sound. When I did a CAI on my S2000 I didn't notice any gains at all other than the audible ones!
