Gas tank constant shutting off fuel
I have this issue occasionally on my 03 coupe. i'll research and checkout the hoses on my car, see if cleaning them out is a viable option. I don't see the need for $100.00 for a hose, but I haven't been under there yet either.
I can see this one hose that's easy to access, but the rest of them look buried pretty good. I guess in theory I could remove this one hose and try to stick something through the tube and see if its clogged, maybe?
This happened to me and my 06 coupe and I was wondering if something was wrong with the car. I now try to use the same pumps at same gas stations. I know this is not always possible so I try to park with a little distance from pump so the pump hose is extended more.
Weird sort of solution I found was wedging the tip of the nozzle on the ring right about the filler hole, not directly in the hole. Unfortunately you can't pump full speed then, but it seems to slow the fluid down enough via deflecting that it never backs itself up the pipe and shuts off the nozzle. Was able to fit another five (!) gallons in that way last time I filled up. Annoying problem, but not end-of-the-world annoying.
Just had the same problem on my '03 coupe today.
I was at Costco (where I usually go) and the pump clicked off after only 2 gallons went in and I could not get any more gas in no matter how much I twisted the handle, backed off the flow rate, or popped it in or out. No dice!
I went to another gas station immediately afterward and another 10 gallons went in with no problem.....tank was now full.
So, all I can conclude is that the car simply will not work with some pumps? .I don't know if it is the pressure at which the gas comes out or if it is incompatible with various vapor recovery system???.
A very weird problem that has plagued these cars since '03. It is unconscionable that Infiniti has not recalled all these cars for a fix......sheesh, they can't design a gas tank that works??
By the way, I also deal with Donald at Carzone here in the LA-Valley area, and can't say enough good things about his service.

Infiniti does have two Service Bulletins out for these cars now. So fixes are available.
