Accidental miss-shift(over rev)

Hello Guys,
so i know there is some other posts about this subject but my case is different and i am asking for your opinions.
so earlier today i was driving on a freeway with a friend that also has a g35 and it was late at night, no cars around so we were having a little fun. i was going around 100 rpm around 6k on 4th gear. i wanted to shift to 5th but from my stupidity i miss shifted into 3rd, the rpm went up to around 8k but i dont think the drive train was yet engaged because i quickly clutched in and went into 5th. the car did not slow down, and i would say it was at 8k for about a second or two. the car drives fine and there is no weird noise coming from the engine at all so i wanna know if i should get worried i mean i babyed this car and this is the first time it happened to me, im just worried about the engine it only has 70k miles and its the 2006 G35 coupe with the revup engine. please guys i want help on this subject im really worried about this and also i know im really stupid that this happened to me. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY OPINIONS!!

You should be fine since you didn't have it there for long and you have a Rev-Up engine with a factory post-redline fuel cutoff point that's close enough to 8K anyways. It's not like you ran it 2K or 3K past the redline. If you don't notice any adverse behavior yet then chances are if you didn't damage anything since most of the real damage from a single overrev would be catastrophic and immediate.

Valve float during the overrev (and the ensuing damage) is the primary thing you'd worry about or possibly a spun bearing would be the main things to worry about from overrevving that minor degree and you would know by now if you had either of those.

Just drive it and see how it goes.... I'm pretty sure that in a week or two you'll pretty much forget that it ever happened and go on with life as such.

And don't drive 100mph on public highways. That's more stupid than overreving.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
He said 100 RPM. If he had posted 100 MPH I would have been forced to give him a reprimand for discussing unsafe driving on the forum. Lucky day for the OP I suppose.

Uhh huh.... Question: do our cars even work at 100 rpm? Heh.

You are a kind and benevolent master.
