VDC Cornering Issue

VDC Cornering Issue

03 coupe 6mt

This seems to be a really common issue, I've read a few different posts about this issue but haven't seen anyone with a real resolve.

When I corner under acceleration, I get the VDC light and the car tries to slow itself down.... it gives a pulsating vibration that feels similar to hitting the rumble strip on the side of the shoulder.

New tires and wheels (18" x 9.75) the previous ones did the same thing 19"s

When I looked at the fender wheels there isn't any marks or polishing on the inner wells. There also isn't any marks on the previous tires.

Has anyone had this issue and fixed it? It seems like a lot of people realize that the issue subsides once they turn off their VDC, but I can't see this being a long term solution.

If you have the VDC on and the rear end detects any slip VDC kicks in and tries to stop the slippage I believe by pulsing the ABS which is the vibration you feel. Just turn off VDC when you drive and you shouldn't have the issue. However VDC is never completely off unless you pull the fuse.....

I didn't know if this was caused by another issue or if this is a common issue with the car.

It it doesn't seem like a local fix to just turn the vdc off entirely. Why would Infiniti have integrated it into the car then?

My guess is that for 95% of Infiniti owners, they don't want to have total control of the safety management systems of their cars. So all of the electronic nannies on cars these days still retain some control even if we "turn them off". Then there's the 5% who do want to drive the car themselves like us lol. So pull the fuse when you want to be in total control and you're all good. Just remember VDC's not there when you might need it when the fuse is pulled.

Are you really recommending someone completely remove the safety gear from their car? Come on man!

The VDC will prevent your wheels from sliding out and causing you to crash when your wheels lose traction. It is being activated because something isn't operating as intended.

Do the following:
* lift the rear wheels and inspect the rear suspension/braking setup. Is there any damage to the wheel speed sensing system? Things like a cracked tone ring or such.
*Tell us your WHEEL size and offset, tires could make a difference b/c the wheel width tells us if the tire is pinched or stretched.
*Check the rear driveline system, do you see a line running down from the rear differential from a failed rear diff bushing? Maybe the rear end power delivery is so sloppy the car thinks the wheels are slipping.
*be honest - do all four tires match, and are you stock height?

I agree with most of what other members have posted with the exception of removing the fuse to disarm your VDC! It allows you to come to a stop quicker without locking up all four wheels. Your issue could easily be tire sizes, are you running the same profile tires front and rear or are your back tires a higher profile?

Okay I had this problem.

When going around a corner, like an on ramp in my case, turning right real hard to get around the looP, my front right wheel will lock the brakes up.. To fix this, I got my steering wheel realigned and got my car aligned as well. It fixed all my issues.

I wouldn't call it a recommendation, more of an option should he choose it. I did include a warning...........

I really appreciate the responses guys! I was planning on having the car aligned today anyway. So I'll start there. Then if the problem persists, I'll take the back wheel off and begin there.

Wheel size and offset isn't as critical as your tire profile size so you're maintaining close to OE factory diameter!

Don't feel dumb I actually had to second guess myself before answering.

225 is width in mm
45 is the height of the sidewall as a percent of width so 45% of 225mm
18 is the wheel size the tire fits on

Then there is rolling diameter which is used to calculate VDC issues or not when running different sized tires on the same vehicle.
