First Time Post

I just bought a new 2007 G35 5AT last weekend in Canada. For the safety the dealership installed new rotors. Those rotors are already rusting after just giving the car a wash. It has never been winter driven,

I am concerned about the rotors which were installed and am planning on upgrading them. I have been looking at buying OEM. The rotors which I looked at from the dealership have been painted. The question I am asking are do the rotor hats need to be painted or will the OEM rotors and the paint that have been applied last me for the life of the rotors?

If not I can paint them now but I just need to know before I go down that route.

Thank you.

I'm not sure what the hell you're asking, but you don't ever want to paint your rotors (with the exception of rotor hats).

I will try and clarify. I am looking at buying some OEM rotors. I went to the dealership last weekend and took a look at them. They come painted with a black type of paint. The question is how long does this paint last on those rotors and is it effective against rust? Or once I buy the rotors should I just paint them with some good quality high temp paint (The rotor hats) Thoughts?

Welcome to the Driver forums! Rather than pay Stealership prices check out our Marketplace under vendor brakes, they have several rotor choices. You could sand down your rotor hats and paint them using rattle cans, should last for several years even in the frozen north!

You are looking for some type of coated rotor TBH. Coated surface is anti rust.

Yeah what I am asking is if the color coating on the OEM rotors is good enough. Or do I need to add additional high temp paint to them to prevent rusting.

Ask your parts store manager what he recommends for lasting coverage, high heat paint would have an advantage since those rotors get hot!
