changed fuel pump and sending unit, but still having fuel gauge problems

Hello,

I have been trying to fix this problem for the last month, but have had no success after installing a new fuel pump and sending unit. It seems to be consuming gas very quickly, I have to fill up every 3 days. Could it be the cluster?

Any tips on what it could be, would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Are you certain it's filing up all the way? What is your gas mileage.

No I am not certain, but the only way to know if its full is once the pump clicks right? I believe its reading correctly when it fills up but just starts dropping fast after.

I am not sure, i have never tried calculating it. I am going to fill up again tomorrow and will calculate how many miles I get out of that gas tank.

I filled up half a tank (10 gallons) this week and traveled around 132 miles. so about 13.2 mpg

It could be the cluster and there is a self test you can do. Make sure the lines aren't jacked up when you put everything back together.

okay thank you, I'll try to do that test soon,

One more question, my alternator just failed today. Is it possible to have fuel gauge issues because of a bad alternator?

I don't think your alternator problem is related to a fuel gauge issue.
