Shift **** not sitting flush

So after I have installed my rogue engineering short shifter, the shift **** doesn't seem to sit properly. Am I missing something because this bothers the hell out of me and I can't seem to find out what's wrong. The **** is screwed in all the way by the way.

To me it seems as if its not the shifter that isn't sitting flush. It looks like its the shifter boot. To me it looks like you can cut out a piece of 3m double sided tape and put it on each and make them meet.

The collar is very loose, no way 3m tape can hold the whole thing down tight. It needs to be screwed in all the way.

PM SXEXCX (Sean) he can hook you up with the new shifter boot that will fit/look way better than what's driving you nuts! You'll have choices of colors, right down to the stitching!

From the pic your shift **** is lined up with the post, other than the boot being messed up I can't see anything else wrong!
