Do you mean the size of the thread on the shift shaft that the **** screws on to? No sure what you mean by "bolt pattern"? Elaborate please?

yes the thread on the shaft. Would it require a 10mm ****?

I am thinking it is bigger than that? I will have to check for you when I get home as I have my motorcycle today. Maybe someone else can answer for you sooner?

It is indeed a 10mm in size, but I cannot find my damn thread pitch guage! It looks to be 1.25?

Does the G35 6mt share the same shifter as the Z? Is the Z shift **** interchangable with the G35?

OK...I know I am probably going to get flamed for asking this...but judging from reading the threads, all you gotta do to remove the shift **** is unscrew it? I figured as much since all my other cars were like that, but when I tried doing it to the G the other day it felt like something was gonna break when I tried to unscrew it. Maybe I am babying my G too much since I just got it...

Nope

No flaming here. The shift **** does unscrew, however there is some kind of thread locking goop applied that makes it very difficult. The correct procedure is to pull up the collar that attaches to the console (under the shifter boot) and clamp a vise grip around the shifter rod so it doesn't move and destroy the transmission. You then unscrew the **** either by hand (if your really strong) or with a Channel Lock and rubber, so you don't damage the ****. On some cars, it is really on tight.

OK...last stupid question (for this thread at least), how does the collar come off the console? I tried pulling it up and that thing felt like it was gonna snap in half!

Thanks

Pull up on the center console itself. It should just pop up a bit back of the seat heater buttons. The top will pop off underneath the head unit section.

There will still be some wiring connected, so don't be going around and fully taking the console off unless you label and disconnect all the wiring. It's better to just leave the wiring attached and work around it.
