G35 in limp mode, please help!

Recently my car went into limp mode, check engine light on and AT Check flashes whenever I start.
Transmission mechanic quoted me 2600 to replace the valve body.
He also said it might also be a knock sensor and that it would be 5200 to replace that as well.
I currently do not have that in my budget.
Any advice?
Is it possible to replace it on my own?
Any threads that have a detailed walkthrough on how to replace an auto transmission valve body?
Car only has 102,000 miles and its an 04. 100% stock.
How much would a dealership charge to replace it?

Coupe 6MT Premium RAS
Start with an OBD2 scan to tell you what error codes are triggering the service engine light. Auto parts houses do this for free.

Maybe the knock sensor

I'd just replace the knock sensor yourself. It's not that hard to do honestly

How about a little logic? Along with the limp mode comes error codes, it would be very stupid to start replacing parts before you know what those codes are and what they mean! My AT went into limp mode once, after researching the error code the cause was dirty/burnt trans fluid. Living in a hot climate trans fluid must be changed prior to what Nissan recommends, now I change it yearly!
