I had a new clutch and flywheel put in, when i went to pick up the car and i pressed the clutch it made a whiney noise, the mechanic adjusted the pedal and it stopped with the clutch pressed but still makes it when in gear. Mechanic still has the car, what could it be?

1. What kind of kit did u get? What flywheel? aluminum? Iron?
2. Did you bought and replaced your throwout bearing?

Replace the master and slave clutch cylinder, sound like minor clutch drag, probably not enough to actually pull the vehicle but the CMS/CSC should ALWAYS be replaced (as well as all fluid) every time you replace the clutch.

The OEM clutch and flywheel do not make any noise.
Cheap parts, lightweight flywheels, you get what you pay for.

Yeah my lightweight flywheel and clutch are pretty noisy but it's your typical clutch chatter and not a whine. Mine chatters like CRAZY on launch too which is a little annoying sometimes.

Perfect response! Unless you're going to track your ride our Nissan OE clutches should last well over 100K mile and beyond. One part that wears out under normal use is the throw out bearing, they take quit a beating! There's a few incidents that will wear out/ destroy a clutch, fluids from our main seals or the individuals inability to use a clutch correctly! Originally Posted by telcoman

But, but... rotating mass!
I definitely wouldn't go back to OEM but it was silky smooth and quiet...

Isnt the luk flywheel and exeddy oem? I dknt ride the clutch , always in nuetral on lights and i dont beat on it.. before i took the car to get fixed only problem was that the clutch was slipping. No noises.
Where i messed up on was i waited to long to order parts, i ordered everything about a 2 weeks after the clutch started slipping, this is my only car so i kept driving it and it started slipping really bad. I had this happen to my maxima and i waited long but all the car did when it git bad was not engage at all. This time with the g35 i heard a big boom while driving and the clutch stopped working.
Now after new clutch and flywheel it was making a rubbing noise when clutch is pressed down, the mechanic adjusted the pedal and when clutch is pressed down it stopped but still happens when in gear. Now the mechanic is telling me that he took the trans out and he cant find the problem.
What could this be?

Ask to see the parts he removed if he still has them, you want to see the condition of the clutch.plates, the throw out bearing, and the flywheel. A lound BANG sound could mean something scattered inside the bell housing. The damaged component would be pretty obvious but flying metal parts could have damaged something else. It's hard to say what since you're trusting the word of a random mechanic to tell you what's going on.
