Wood trim? That's the main reason I went with the G. NO WOOD TRIM!

Time enough for wood trim in the grave.

Nissan actually has a mahogany trim for the Coupe in Japan. Looks about as good as anything else like that. I'd think about it if I had a white or desert G, but I think it'd look bad on anything else.

You said u wanted the best car in its class. Well the Lexus is not really the best car in its class. The best car in its class is the C240 Why did you not get the Maxima or even the I35? Those are even better choices than the ES300 in my opinion.

Yea, I don’t know what he means about that comment either. So what that Chrysler owns MB they are still awesome cars. Ford owns Aston Martin, doesn’t mean that the Aston Martin is a Ford.

Re: Couldn't wait any longer, bought a Lexus!

I was just responding to your comment:

"Lexus has no more or no less prestigious image than Infiniti. Lexus is a Toyota, Infiniti is a Nissan and a Mercedes-Benz is a Mercedes-Benz now that’s a more prestigious image."

I'm referring to at least my perception that the IMAGE of these Japanese luxury marques are on the upswing, while MB, with its acquisition of Chrysler, has diluted its IMAGE enough to appear to be on the downswing.... which is perhaps one reason why former German car owners like myself are coming over to Infiniti, Lexus, and Acura. And don't fret it, I'm not havin' any kids, so the world is apparently safe from the proliferation of my way of thinking! :-)

somehow I rarely remember that Lexus is actually Toyota. They've branded their name to mean what Toyota could never mean really well. But the IS300?!? okay, so you got good mechanical quality, but I don't know anyone who would say it has anything more than longevity and reliability to its name.

Just my two cents.

platinum: Don't let everyone get you down. The ES300 is a great sedan. It kicks the G35's butt in the luxury department. Not everybody wants a sport sedan/coupe, but I think you'll find most people on this forum do and can't understand why anybody else wouldn't. And don't let the Camry references fool anyone.. the Camry is an excellent vehicle in it's own right. It all comes down to what your personal priorities are in choosing a vehicle. By any chance did you consider a Volvo S60 instead? Plenty of that luxury, and just a notch or two below the G35/330i in spunk.

Just checked out a 2003 Volvo S60 T5 on CarsDirect.com and you can buy them fully loaded for under $35,000 or $2,900 under invoice. Pretty cool price considering it has a 247HP turbocharged engine!

Why would you do a Volvo S60 over the G35C? I think the 70+ posts on the Lexus ES300 must be going to your head... The G35C doesn't need a turbo to put the S60 in the rear view mirror and the interior is better as well. At least the ES300 has a nice interior if you get into the car quickly....

No one said that they would choose a S60 over a G. I meant IMO, I’d take a S60 T5 over a slow Lexus ES300 anyday.

That's what I was saying.

Besides.. for 2004 they're bringing out the S60R:

300hp @ 5500rpm and 295lb-ft of torque from 1950rpm clear through 5250rpm
6-speed manual (0-60 in 5.4)
Electronically-controlled AWD
4C Active Performance Chassis System (suspension)
Brembo brakes

But for the ultimate sleeper, you can get it in V70R (wagon) clothing.

Starting under $40k.

Now that is something I might just take over a G35...

Re: Couldn't wait any longer, bought a Lexus!

I actually looked that up (S60R), and according to Edmunds, the turning radius is 42.7 feet, which seems insane! I can't imagine parking that (for comparison, the G's is 37.4 feet...and most car's don't go above 40). It looks like a very nice car besides that, though more expensive than the G.
