Burping coolant system question
Burping coolant system question
2005 auto coupe
Replaced radiator, upper lower hose and thermostat.
I have done this before, but the issue is new to me. While removing the air from the system (bleed plug open), the lower hose is not getting warm. The coolant overflow is going back into the resevoir once it heats up. Is this a sign of a bad thermostat, or air still being in the lines? I am just letting it cool, pulling resevoir and placing it back in radiator, and repeating.
Thanks for any tips

Rather than wasting your $$ on a new thermostat, test the one you're replacing! Submerge it in a pan of water and start bring it to a boil all the time watching it's reaction. If it opens between 180 and 200 degrees the thermostat isn't your issue. I could write a book about thermostats and how they react depending on the circumstances.

There is still a chance I have air trapped, so if I find time today, I will work on it again.

Lisle funnel saves the day. There was a large amount of air in system, and the Lisle worked like a champ. With the hood up, I could see the funnel while revving the car, and watch the Scangauge.
