'03 Coupe Spoiler light Dissassembly

Is there a definite thread somewhere that describes the way to replace the spoiler light?

Main question is do I HAVE to separate the spoiler or is there an easier way? Just seems like a very high price to pay for a light change!

There is a body color trim piece glued under the light - does that snap off or hide screws?

Some threads have mentioned hidden screws, etc..but I'm not seeing any.

Thanks.

I don't have a body color trim piece glued under my light. I have caps that match the light. I can pry them out with a small screw driver to remove the light.
Removing the spoiler to install the light would make it a lot easier. There may be no other way around it.

The link above is the factory manual. Look on page LT-137. You may have to register to access the manuals.

thanks for those replies. I have been fighting with the tape holding down the spoiler using a heat gun but its a losing battle with paint melting, chipping and high levels of frustration.

I don't understand how some 03' coupe owners are reporting screws on their spoiler light and some don't.

Make sure you have unscrewed all of the nuts. I think there are 6 total. I originally missed one on each end.

That is most likely because there are many variations of the rear wing.
It seems like 10 years ago, many who bought without the whale tail had one retrofitted years later (or the following owners).

Mine was an aftermarket wing, retrofitted with tape and self tapping screws. My brake light also did not have any screws on the outside to remove it and was held on with double sided tape to the wing.

I think those with the colour coded plastic part under the light are OEM - not sure though.

that would make sense. I am the original owner and mine is an OEM spoiler so that confirms what you said about the color coded trim.

I gave up and have ordered a tail light off Amazon which I will wire into the harness and call it a day.

Thanks for the support, this forum's always been great!
