Want to cheaply replace aftermarket HIDs possibly

Hi All.
Joined this forum for a friend. She's a single mother of three and someone gave her a 2004 G35. It's in pretty good shape with 185k miles. One of the headlights went out and my son and I have been trying to help. It would appear someone previously replaced the headlights with HIDs (we think-not much experience here). The bulb was burned out and the socket was cracking and falling apart.
I'm guessing that replacing the sockets with OEM sockets would be easiest/cheapest. I ordered what I thought was a socket from Rock Auto but it wasn't what I was looking for. Anyone know a good place to get replacement sockets for a reasonable amount? Any suggestions how we can get her going with two good low beams? Thanks!

Honestly it might be cheaper and easier in the long run to go back to the factory halogen, if it's not an OEM HID assembly from a newer G then the light output might be garbage anyways.

Yeah, I got a couple extra ignitors and bulbs that I'll send you for free if you get two factory ballasts.

Pigtail connector is a term I needed. I'll search for that on Ebay.
Seems the original halogen would be simpler and cheaper. When I went originally to Orielly to buy a new bulb I about had a heart attack at the price of an HID. Besides having to mess with a ballast.

Thanks Scraggle, but I'm married and an old man. I sort of got an adopted sister and nieces and nephews out of the deal. Which is great.

If it's a coupe they were not originally halogen.

And best way to source ballasts is thru online junkyards - usually you can just search eBay. Don't ever buy a bulb or ballast from an auto parts store - they're way over priced.

i don’t mean to hijack this at all but Scraggle if you would be willing to hand off those igniters for free I certainly wouldn’t mind taking them off of your hands...lol

I found this on ebay. My son says that small silver socket attached to the ballast looks like what we need. (He's actually the one who dug his way into the headlight assembly )
Well Scragglerock, it is a sedan so I guess it came with HID. This is only $7. Think I'll order it.

The big Grey part is a ballast, and the silver bit with stainless wiring cover is an Ignitor. Same across all G's, reflector or projector.

No, if it's a sedan, it could have been a halogen; you posted in the coupe section tho. 03/4 sedans came with halogen or hid reflectors. Coupes never came with halogens tho.

Yes ^ sorry I thought we were only talking coupes here. Early (02-04*) sedans no HID.

Yes, I believe it was always an option on the sedans, but not standard til 05. It was always standard on coupes.

OP that silver socket part is the part I told you I'd send you for free.
