Stripped Air Bleeder Screw
Stripped Air Bleeder Screw
Hey guys,
Replaced the fans on my 05 G35 coupe a couple months ago, but never purged air out of the coolant system after doing this. This has led to my heater not working when idling and my car over heats every now and then.
Problem is, my air bleeder screw (plastic) is stripped from the previous owner. Any ideas on burping/purging the system without using this screw? Preferably without any special tools?
Thanks in advance!

Heater on the highest temp, jack up the front of the vehicle and put it on jackstands, run through the rpms with a spill-free funnel to try to get the bubbles to purge towards the front using gravity, refill as needed. Drop the car off the jackstands, drive around, refill as needed.
Rinse/repeat a few times.
Or just buy the aftermarket purge bleed valve from Z1 motorsports because the factory plastic one is a piece of ****.

Is the above method still possible without the spill-free funnel? Was trying to get this done tonight and do not have one of those. Or do you perhaps know if Walmart, Home Depot, etc., carry them?
TIA.
I don't think you'll find anything locally but you can always try just cranking the heater up and getting out on the highway. The biggest issue you'll have is sucking the reservoir dry, you might overfill it slightly because the system will ingest a considerable amount of coolant once it finally cycles through the heater core properly.
Make sure heat is on high and drop your windows a little to cool the cabin so the system has to actively work at keeping it up to temp, if the cabin is too warm then the ambient temp sensors will be doing their thing and I don't know if it has a coolant flow bypass that gets actuated.
You will probably hear it gurgling inside the cabin when coolant does flush the system, probably a good idea to carry your spare coolant in the trunk so you can just stop and refill the reservoir on the fly as long as it's not a hazard for you to pull over.
