I believe my ABS relay is going bad. I hear a buzzing noise coming from the Brake fluid area even when the car is off and I've heard that is a sign that the ABS relay is failing. I already bought the part. Does anyone know how to replace the ABS relay or have a diagram of some sort? Thanks!
I would start by reading the section in the factory service manual. Google it, I'm on my phone or I'd provide a link, it all starts with the FWD document.
Ok I'm at my PC this morning, the ABS relay sits right in front of the actuator valve block, driver side near the firewall. Lemme dig around I have a picture I took for another user a while back.
I know where its at, I just font know how to swap out the actual relay. I already removed the connections to the relay, now I just need to know how to swap it out for a new one, I couldn't find anything on the factory service manual unfortunately.
The relay is literally that whole black thing I'm touching in the photo, unplug those harnesses and take it out, put in the new and plug the harnessed back it. You should probably unplug the battery first.
I followed your instructions and I'm trying to take out the relay by pulling up but its not budging. whats keeping the relay in place? a clip? I wish there was video out there so it could be easier but I could't find anything
Ohh **** sorry I didn't understand what you were asking, on the side close to the tire there is a little retainer you have to pull back on with a flatblade screwdriver while you lift straight up iirc. I got a picture here of that side with my phone, don't be afraid to bend the bracket a little towards the ABS body to get a little more room.
Yeah as soon as I realized what you were talking about I remembered the last one I did, protip, wear a leather glove on the hand that's pulling the relay up that piece of metal it's hooked up to is INSANELY sharp and I sliced myself bad enough that I could have gotten stitches if I went to the hospital.
