Trade in '03 for an '05?
Trade in '03 for an '05?
Anybody trade up to an '05?
I was at the dealer today for service on my '03 and walked in the show room to sit in an '05. I coulden't quite place it, but the materials felt a lot nicer.
I was planning on buying out my car at the end of my lease in about 16months, but now I'm thinkink about just trading it in and buying an '05. My negative would be about 2k.
My service manager was also telling me that the key is different for the '05, can anybody confirm this?

i sold my 03 5at coupe and bought a 05 6mt coupe. the quality of the materials do appear a bit better than the 03 (e.g. the center console with the real aluminum finish and the leather). the key is only different if you get the intelligent key which is available only in the sedan.
I was at my dealer for an oil change last month on my '03 6mt, and he had an '05 6mt in slate, which looks blue in the sun and gray in the dark. Neat. He also had a laser red/wheat. Those 19" wheels and new interior stuff look better, and who wouldn't want 18 more horses (though I still haven't seen an official road test in any of the major car mags to show how those extra ponies translate into more speed), but at this point I'm not interested in trading in for 2 major reasons- I really like my CB color, which is no longer available, and, more importantly (here we go again), the '05's have no BREMBOS!! Call me transparent, shallow, whatever, but at least visually they add a lot to our road presence.
Dealer also had new M35 and M45- I think the BMW 5 series will be scrambling as much as the 3 series did when our cars came out. Too bad they're not offering that new M with a stick...

What I was hoping for in the 05' was keyless start, memory seats and touch screen nav. Maybe I should hold out for the 06', I'm sure they will work some of those options in. The G35 sedan already has the keless start option.
