I was wondering if these are common things for owners of the g35. I am a new g35 owner and a couple weird things happen that I am unsure of if they are normal for the car.

First, whenever I go over a steeper incline or bump, something always makes a popping sound close to where my sunroof is, whether it is open or closed. It almost sounds like the frame of the car is too stiff and it pops when it goes under more pressure like a bump up to a steep driveway. The car is a clean title, carfax verified. It doesnt do it when driving down the road, only when going over a bigger bump, almost sounds like the car is creaking, but it only comes from what sounds like above my head near the sunroof or the top of the car.

Another thing that may be completely normal, but I have never experienced in my other vehicles I have owned is that sometimes, not every time, when I start the car I hear a loud whooshing noise of fluid or liquid. This seems to happen randomly, not necissarily when the car is cold or warmed up, sometimes I notice it, sometimes I dont. This is a 2007 coupe base.

The second item you're hearing is probably the ABS self-test. Every time you start the vehicle as soon as you hit 10mph the ABS system does a self test and closes the ABS relay to actuate the ABS motor for 1 second, it makes a strange "whirring or grinding" sound from right next to the brake master cylinder. If you have the windows rolled down you will definitely hear it.

As for the sunroof popping I would open the roof all the way and thoroughly inspect the track to make sure there isn't any debris in it, I've never had sunroof issues like this but it's a removable component and if it gets worse you will probably have to drop the headliner to start checking fasteners.

 

Sunroof has a documented fix if you search old posts. Basically the bolts that hold up the sunroof are coming loose and causing the clunk. In a nut shell, you have to remove the headliner and tighten a few bolts, and preferably add some blue locktite so you don't have the issue again.

Need more details about the water sound, otherwise I've got nothing.
