450 Walbro fuel pump issues
450 Walbro fuel pump issues
Hello,
I have a 2004 G35 fitted with a built engine and an APS Twin Turbo kit. I was hoping to make more power this year but I ran into a couple last minute issues; they will be worked out throughout the winter (I'm in Canada so I have plenty of time to work out the details).
I was under the assumption that the 450 Walbro fuel pump was a direct drop in upgrade - After attempting the install I now see I was mistaken. I'm currently running 520whp but ran out of fuel supply with my Walbro 255 LPH pump. I bought a 450 and now I just need a little bit of advice from those of you that have made this upgrade before.
From what I can see, there needs to be a bit of plastic trimmed off of the cartridge to allow for the bell end of the 450. So, to me I would have to trim off the length of the 'bell' from the new pump. I just want to make sure that this is the only modification needed before I go ahead and do this, because I don't want to keep going in and out of my fuel tank, allowing debris and junk a way in.
Please, if you have done this before, post here or message me and I would love to know the modifications necessary to go bigger!
