Quarter window replacement

hello awesome g35 owners, I just picked up another g35 but It’s quarter window is shattered. It’s still there but shattered and might completely break at one point . I can just put a layer of black film/tint and it will hold. But I can get my hands on a used quarter window for $30! So I’m not going to cheap out and just replace it . I know how to put it on with some 3M window glue , but I just don’t know how to take it off. I might have to remove the inside quarter panel and outer trim but I’m lost after that.

Remove the interior side trim pieces and then cut the window out. Then glue the new one in with the proper window adhesive.

I usually cheat, use painters tape EDIT: ORANGE painters tape, not blue, you need the sticky stuff... and tape up the back of the window on the inside of the vehicle, then use a glass breaker and shatter it, tape holds all the pieces together and it's quick and easy for small windows like that.

Then you can use a razor knife to remove the adhesive around the window instead of those cable glass removers which require two people and are a pita and you don't have to screw with interior plastic covers.

Auto glass adhesive, typically they're urethane, should be able to find it locally at a parts house but you could also just call around to a local auto glass shop and buy a tube from them. It will be WAY more than you need since those guys are only going to have normal caulk gun size tubes.

They might have a half-tube they'll sell for cheap too.
