Weight Reduction

First of all, Does taking out 50 pounds here 20 pounds here, really help? I'm a big guy im about 215 pounds.

If I take 200 pounds out, isn't going to make a difference?

And has anyone done any easy quick and not very noticeable weight reduction ?

I tried dieting. Went from a hefty 215 to a svelt 175. I'd like to think that my G is faster, but it probably isn't.

If the G did not weigh so much we would be in the class of the M3 in terms of speed.

and de-panel the whole rear, and ditch the passenger seat. that should help in acceleration. i used to rip out my whole rear in my previous cars and achieved some quickness.

Look.....why are you even bothering?

If you wanted a lightweight car, with no interior (hense the lightweight) you should have asked for maybe an Evo...

If you really want to lighten your car, then I think you should sell it, and buy a 350z....that will lose you 200lbs right off the bat. After all, a G35 is just a 350z with stuff added to make it a more luxurious car.

I love my car audio....but I'm also concious of weight....So I have comprised my car audio...also it doesn't help that I'm 270lbs....ahhh but I still have beaten several cars....most notable 04' M3 convertible...yes there were 2 people in the car and the top was down...but I figure I weighed as much as both of them put together.

true that... why are you guys even talking about losing weight on the G35... if you don't want weight, why did you get a luxury car... and think about it logically...

200 lbs weight reduction = 0.05% weight reduction.
0.05% = small weight reduction
small weight reduction = small acceleration gain

So, no there is no way to reduce the weight enough on the G35 so as to make it noticeably faster without reducing it to a POS worthy of a Kia label.

I got a Lux car cuz I wanted a Lux car, wtf is the matter with wanting a small acceleration gain, Im just looking for some small ways to get a few more torque points

"Every Single Pound Counts"

So mabey I want A Fast luxury car, which is exactly what a G35 Is

aznshodan:

check your math.... 200lbs is 5.7% weight reduction, and it certainly matters
Unless of course you have one of those special 350,000 Lb G's, in which case it is only a 0.057% reduction....

200 LBs is huge as weight reduction goes, and if you shaved 350 lbs, that would be 10%, and have no doubt you'd know it.....

If you could easily add 10% power, you sure would

But beside the point... nothing in the car to give up to drop 200lbs
