Crawford Cast Plenum + Pics!
Crawford Cast Plenum + Pics!
I finally got my plenum today... was supposed to arrive last week!
Anyways, the plenum was VERY well packed.. LOTS of bubble wrap. There was so much that i'll be able to use that for future packages
Here's what it looked like when it first arrived..

Then i took it outside and applied the applique that crawford provided.. this took a long time for me.. damn things wouldn't come off the sticker!

I decided to just take a pic of my engine before the modification..

This is what it was like after i removed the ugly stock plenum!
And finally installed! Yes, it went from bright to dark. I started in the evening so i was in a rush to finish before it got dark. I had a little trouble with the 2 middle screws on the top between the stickers. The problem was that they didnt want to screw themselves in. I wasn't sure why.. maybe the screw lining thing is worn out? No matter how hard i try to grind it it wouldn't grab on. So after trying for like 30 min, i decided to take a hammer and gently hammer them down a little. That fixed the problem and i was then able to turn them and screw it down...
Another picture.. again i apologize for the dark pics, it was dark outside! Also, note that the thick split loom in the front of the engine bay had to be moved forward to allow room for the plenum. This was a little difficult too because it did not want to extend enough for me to use the provided clamps/nuts. I had to use quite some force for it to stay put...
The install took me about less than an hour. I use to have the kinetix plenum so I already knew what I was doing and didnt really have to refer to instructions. It took so much longer because of those two stupid screws. I'm glad it worked out in the end though. Comparing with the kinetix, the crawford plenum is not as loud.. the kinetix gave more of a "rumble" which i loved. I would've kept the kinetix if I still had it but I decided not to do anymore engine mods.. but i was too tempted :P The crawford in my opinion looks a lot nicer though, plus it's made out of cast and is cheaper than the kinetix. In terms of performance, there was still a rumble which is cool and it picks up a lot more than when I had my stock plenum. It seems to pick up better than when I had my kinetix, but i can't really remember since it was awhile ago. Overall, this product kicks *** for it's price and looks awesome. Next up... high flow cats!

You will love it! Installing it will be fun too.. just don't drop anything! I noticed that you got the high flow cats as well and that u are also in CA.. i was considering this mod but I did not want to deal w/ the headaches of not passing smog.. what are u planning to do about that?

You see whre the two red arrows are pointing? Those are the provided clamps and you're supposed to screw it onto what seems to be the existing engine cover screws? In order to do that you have to pull the loom as far out as possible.. it's really not that big of a deal but does take some effort..
