06 G35 P0011/P0021 My Problem and FIx
So I put engine restorer into my G35 because it has 153,000 miles on it and it was running pretty good for a week or so. Then my check engine light turned on and i was getting code P0021. I checked the oil and it was really low. I had 5w-30 oil in it but because i live in Tucson and it was summer and the temp was 100+ i put 10w-30 and filled it up. I put a quart of oil in to fill it up. I also added a little more engine restorer and then reset the code by disconnecting the battery. I started it back up and took it for a drive and noticed it had no power when i stepped on the gas. I drove for a while then the check engine light came on again. I read the codes and its was now P0011 and P0021. I thought maybe the restorer and the thicker oil just doesnt circulate very well because i read read that engine restorer thickens the oil plus i put in 10w-30 which also is thicker so oil wasnt passing though the solenoids very well Also the engine oil was pretty black when i checked it so it was due for an oil change. I went out and bought seafoam and put a can in the oil and drove it around for a couple days to loosen up any gunk or anything that could possible be clogging anything. I changed the oil and filter and put 5w-30 in and reset the codes by again disconnecting the batteries. Then i took it for a drive and it still had no power and was driving like crap. I didn't understand why it would still be doing that when i completely changed the oil. I took out one of the solenoids to see if it was clogged but it looked fine so I thought it had to be something else. I was about to buy new solenoids, new sensors and if that didnt work then replace the timing chain and tensioner but I thought maybe i should reset the ecu by doing the reset procedures i found online by pressing gas pedal 5 times and so on. After i reset the ecu the car got its power back and was driving good again so problem solved. Hopefully my experience can help anyone who has similar problems. Cant have too thick of oil and it cant be dirty and i recommend you seafoam it and drive for a little before you change the oil and make sure you remember to reset the ecu, not by just disconnecting the battery and pressing the brake but actually doing the reset procedures that you can find online
