well gang i finally did it... yesterday , 4/20/20, i got my g started!!! the problem was my exhaust cam sprockets!! so now its started right...and it wont reverse i feel like its gonna need a new transmision or something so would anyone with some knowledge or insight into this issue please let me know what kind of problem im looking at(:

Does the stick move up and down normally like you would do for going into reverse?

Can you run all 6 forward gears?

I would drive the car forward 12 inches or so and while it's rolling try to get it into reverse, might just be a little bound up from sitting. If that doesn't work pop up the console or jackstands and get under the car and inspect for anything physically blocking the shifter mechanism, might have a big mouse nest or something.

 

Yea just to check, are you aware you have to push down on the stick and then you can move it into reverse?

 

Ohh yeah you've never actually DRIVEN this car have you? I wasn't running when you purchased and it's just finally running. Yes watch the video, you probably aren't pushing the shifter DOWN to get to reverse, not forward/reverse but actually DOWN towards the ground. Then you can pull to the right/back and go into reverse.
