Wiring For Reverse Lights And Neutral Position Sensor

Hello everybody, just here today to ask how the wiring should be for the neutral position sensor and the reverse lights. I just did a tranny swap on my 07 coupe and can't seem to figure out the wiring on those to sensor. Any info will help, thank you!!

You should be able to find what you are looking for in the link below. Is the transmission from the same year G35? If not search the site the link below takes you for the year the transmission came from. Hope it helps.

Why are you having to rewire stuff for a tranny swap?

So again I'll ask, why are you having to rewire the PNP and reverse switches on your transmission? What transmission did you get? It's obviously not the right one for the car.

Guessing it's a 5AT since those switches should be the same on all 6MT equipped ones.

If it's a 5AT and you accidentally bought the wrong one with the 3 green harnesses instead of the single large grey harness you can take out the valve body and TCM from the existing transmission and install it into the new (used) donor transmission. Then your harnesses will work.

I would definitely not recommend trying to cut/splice wires to adapt the single grey harness into the 3 green harness for the older transmissions.

The tranny housing is the same on both transmissions, there is a little retainer on the inside for where the harness grommet goes through the transmission housing.

Firstly, no need for name calling all it does it earn you infractions.

Ok that's why I asked, nowhere in your original post did it mention anything about WHAT TRANSMISSION, or what you were swapping it with. Now we know you're asking about a 5AT to 6MT conversion.

In that case you will just need to pull a new 4 conductor cable assembly (or two separate 2 conductor cables) to the transmission, the 5AT PNP switch is an 11 conductor switch that connects to the TCM, the TCM then sends via CAN which gear it's actually in. You're replacing that with something entirely different.

You will need 4 total wires, 2 to each side of the 6MT, right side is the PNP, left side is the backup switch. Both are simple 2-wire contacts.

Reverse/backup switch, power comes from pin 26 on the IPDM, that feeds directly to the switch and the other wire needs to land on 3H of SMJ F102 in the cabin next to the ECM.

PNP switch goes from pin 102 on the ECM (harness F108) to pin 2H on the same SMJ F102 harness in the previous picture.

Doing a 5at to 6mt swap myself. I have an 04 g35 and located a 2005 (CD009) trans. The two-prong switch on the passenger side of the trans is the park/neutral position switch. The two-prong switch on the driver side of the trans is the reverse-light switch. I think the confusion for people doing this swap comes in that some make it seem as if there is a plug there that need only to be extended to reach the switch; this is not true. You have to run two-wires to the reverse lamp switch if you are reusing your car's original harness - just like he said^.

Thanks @cleric670 for that because I know exactly what to do now!

AT-MT swap Coupe
Doing an AT to MT swap and just wired up my 2005 Coupe like cleric670 said. When I turned the key at first nothing would happen besides the dash turning off when the key was in the crank position. Also my key was stuck in the ignition like the auto does when you're not in park. Tried again and the radiator fans went to max speed, the cluster lit up like a Christmas tree, and still no crank. I plugged my code reader in and it said U1000 or "no ecu detected." I unhooked battery and tried unplugging and plugging ecu plug back in. Still nothing. Disconnected my wires to the transmission and the car stopped freaking out. I had the clutch switch wired to the cigarette lighter fuse which I guess was wrong because after bypassing that the car finally started. I know my PNP and reverse light wires are hooked up to the right terminals (according to the info above^^). Am I missing something that is production year related? Could a short in my DIY MT harness be the cause? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Edit: Once the car started the code reader worked much better. Have the U1000 as well as a P1065

Clutch switch should start at IPDM wire 25, then go through the clutch switch and back to IPDM wire 53.

P1065 is a generic for "no power to the ECM", U1000 means it's missing CANBUS from something. (generic codes like that means your OBD2 scanner is probably missing protocol ISO 9141-2 which is needed to get specific codes for these cars). However that P1065 code is also present anytime the battery has been disconnected and it will clear itself, it shouldn't be causing a check engine light though.

You are using a 6MT ECM yes? It will need to be matched to the BCM either with the dealership Consult-II/III tool or with Nissan Datascan 2 PC version. I don't think it will work with the 5AT ECM unless it's been reprogrammed.

U1000 makes me think it's NOT a 6MT ECM, sounds like a 5AT ECM that is looking for a TCM but not finding it.
