California Smog check, can I pass?
To any of California G35 owners, were you guys able to pass smog with a cat back exhaust? I still have my catalytic converters still on and was wondering if I’m able to pass with exhaust being done. Engine is completely stock.
Greetings fellow Commie-fornia G owner
You should be fine, as cat-backs do not modify the emissions systems of the vehicle. As long as you don't have a CEL, you should pass smog.
You can fail if you have an aftermarket intake or aftermarket cats or test pipes. Some of my local shops inspect the intake/exhaust thoroughly, others don't at all & just plug it in and test.
If you get an intake, make sure it has a CARB EO number & sticker. Either stick it somewhere in the engine bay or on the intake, or show it to the smog rep when you have it tested.
